So all i want do is make the ball actually bounce, lets say cross the stage.
Since its nested the easiest way to do is to click down the time line and i am gonna create a new key frame i am hitting F6 on the keyboard then what I wanna so is hold down shift and the right arrow key and this allows me to move the symbol across the stage and now all you need to do is create a motion twin and all you use twin drop down menu and now i am gonna scrub my time line here and show you that the ball is now moving and bouncing across the stage. Now, remember it is still the same nested animation in here of the ball just bouncing in place. So, here is a perfect example of a movie within a movie and also its very efficient because i had to only animate the ball bouncing once and reusing it is always an efficient way to do animations in flash.
Another perfect example of this would be a walk cycle for a character i will play this back you will see an that animating a character walking in place as if it was on a trade mill allows you to do some more things as we just did with the bouncing ball. So if i want to make this character walk across the stage i will on the first key frame here positioning him here off the stage to the left then i am gonna created a key-frame down line timeline and lets move him over and create another motion twin using the win drop down in properties panel and as you can see if we scrub the time line he walks across the set and as you can see here the tiny might not be quiet right because his feet are slipping so what we gonna do is slow it down a bit and I am gonna collapse my panels over here to the right more of the timeline.
You can see more of the time line and maybe over here too and what i like to so is insert more frames and i can do that one or two ways i can grab the last key frame hold that down or i can click an drag and select a large span of frames and hit F5 which is the same as insert frames and hit that a few times now what that does is lengthen mine motion twin and it slows down the animation and now his feet don’t slip as much. So if you play this back you will see that we have a character walking across the stage and it was a lot easier having this walk cycle as a nested animation.
To make him walk across the stage just suppose to doing it all lets say at one time line and for each frame or each subsequent key frame try to incrementally move him across the stage is kind of an animators nightmare. So here we can also take advantage of the fact that we can scale him if we wanted to so its almost as if he is walking away or even towards himself we start him off small and lets scale him up a bit and move him down. Now if i just show the stage area the illusion is that he looks like is he is actually walking from a distance and getting a little bit closer to us.
So, nested animations as you can see are pretty powerful and efficient. So use them wherever possible.
